Why SafeRequest

More secure than email

The most common way to exchange documents nowadays is per email. The technique behind email is developed in the 1970s and was revolutionary at the time. At its core, email is not secured in any way. Although measures were taken over time, it still is not the most secure way to exchange sensitive documents like passports, financial data or health records.

Emails can be intercepted relatively easy, and usually emails are stored on servers unencrypted. Apart from that, it is quite common that emails containing sensitive attachments end up with the wrong people, just because you selected the wrong "John" from your address book.

Sending requests via SafeRequest solves these issues and offers a safe online inbox with end-to-end encryption. Contrary to email or files transfer services like WeTransfer, files are encrypted before they are uploaded to our servers and are only decrypted after downloading. Moreover, only the one in possession of the private key can decrypt the files, being only you. No one else can access your files, period.

Be GDPR compliant

The GDPR sets certain rules for handling privacy sensitive information. SafeRequest makes it easier to comply with these rules.

→ Maintain personal data security standards

Through the GDPR, data controllers are required to know the privacy and security standards processors have chosen to implement and check that they are being upheld. With personal data, take into account that:

  • The security level of email is subpar
  • It is a risk to store data unencrypted on a server
  • Hosting outside the EU has certain risks

SafeRequest uses end-to-end encryption, stores all data within the EU and follows a strict data protection policy.

→ Prevent personal data tampering and loss

The concept of security by design was introduced into the GDPR, essentially meaning that companies will now be held legally accountable for any loss or unauthorized use of the personal information they collect.

As a result of SafeRequest's security, this is prevented. Files can only be downloaded with account credentials, optionally two-factor authentication, and a private key linked to an account.

→ Delete personal data when it is no longer needed

Another requirement of the GDPR is that personal data can only be collected as necessary to the purpose of the use and must be erased when there is no longer a need for it.

SafeRequest offers a clear overview of files, so files (containing sensitive information) that are no longer required can easily be deleted.
